Neilston Parish Church response to Covid-19 / Coronavirus Pandemic
In line with Scottish Government, Public Health and national Church of Scotland guidance, there will be no worship gatherings, other church activities and church organisations meeting within Neilston Parish Church or Church Halls until further notice.
Any Church Hall bookings for external organsiations will also be cancelled until further notice.
Also, please note, at this point, we are unable to open the Church for personal prayer on a Sunday and Wednesday.
We may not be able to gather in fellowship or to worship in Church, but the church is the people not the building, and we will carry on in other ways to stay connected and support each other during these unprecedented times. Members and friends for whom we have address details will have received a letter (copy below) detailing what additional steps are being put in place to facilitate this.
Rev Maureen Leitch's weekly reflection based on the weekly lectionary bible readings can be found on our website each week (there is a dedicated page). We are aware not everyone has access to the internet so if you know of a family member, neighbour or friend who is not able to access Maureen’s weekly reflection, consider printing a copy and posting it through the letterbox, practising social distancing of course!
Neilston Parish Church is not currently set up to live stream but this link contains some ways of finding spiritual connections via the Church of Scotland online.
Pastoral visits and activities
In line with government staying safe and social distancing requirements pastoral visits to elderly and /or vulnerable people by either church minister, elders or pastoral visitors has stopped.
District elders and our other pastoral visitors (i.e. those involved in distributing CDs) have been asked to keep in telephone contact with people.
We can only stay in contact with you if you provide us with your contact information.
Please make sure you have completed and returned the contact information form so we have a phone and/or email contact for you. If you haven’t received a contact details form please use this link and either text, phone, email or send in your details to the Ruth Shepherd tel. 07853 665840, email firstname.lastname@example.org
To comply with Government restrictions around gatherings, our Minister is currently unable to conduct child blessings, baptisms and Christian marriages.
Unfortunately, at this point, Neilston Parish Church is unable to hold any funeral services.
Our minister Rev Maureen Leitch can conduct a private funeral, attended by a small number of family members, within either the crematorium or cemetery.
To seek the services of our Minister please contact Rev Maureen Leitch directly (0141 580 2927) or through a funeral director.
Christian Aid Coronavirus emergency appeal
The coronavirus outbreak threatens to jeopardise the health of the world. It is the poorest, the most vulnerable, the marginalised who are at greatest risk. Christian Aid will use the lessons learned from the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone to mitigate the impact of this virus.
Please read more and make your donation here, perhaps in lieu of the Count Your Blessings campaign for Lent.
