The Girls’ Brigade meet on a Monday evening in the Front Church Hall and operate three different sections, Explorers – Prim 1 – 3, Juniors – Prim 4 – 7 and Brigaders – Secondary 1 upwards.

The Explorers meet at 6:30pm – 7:30 pm.

The session begins on the first Monday in September and ends with the annual display, which is usually held on the third Monday in May.

During the year the Explorers work together on a theme, which will earn them their Explorer badges.  The Juniors and Brigaders badge work is based on four sections, Educational, Physical, Service and Spiritual.  Each girl is awarded her badges at the annual display.  The girls also complete for various trophies, which are also presented at the annual display. The competition between the girls for the trophies is exceptional.  Any girls wishing to join are welcome to do so from primary 1 upwards. We always look forward to meeting new faces. See Contact Us for further information.

1st Neilston Boys’ Brigade

The 1st Neilston Boys’ Brigade was founded on the 02 April 1905 in Neilston Parish Church and the South Churches by the first Captain of the company James Dunlop.  At that time there was an average of 38 boys in the company. The pipe band was formed in 1906 with 11 members and continued until 1909.  The company was unfortunately disbanded in 1910.  Ex Captain T T Richie, 1st Barrhead was asked for advice on how to reform the company and he approached Paisley Battalion who came to Neilston to help do this.  The company was reformed on 02 April 1954 and again affiliated to Neilston Parish and South Churches.

Junior Church — Sunbeams

For Ages 0 — 5YRS (For all Pre-School Children)

The Sunbeams  meet in the Church every Sunday at 10.55am, after family time in the Church they then go over to the Back Church Hall.  When we arrive at the hall we have a story time, colouring/crafts, songs and games.  If children feel shy to begin with parents/grandparents are welcome to stay until the children get to know us.  See Contact Us  for further information.

This is a straight forward and informal introduction into Church life.

Junior Church — Comets

For all Children in Primaries 4 — 7 at School

The Comets meet in Church every Sunday with the other sections of Junior Church and sit as a group.  After Family Time we go down to the Masonic Hall in Main Street where along with the Comets Plus we start with songs and collection.  The Comets then continue with structured lessons taken from a variety of sources mainly concentrating on the Old Testament until Christmas and then studying the New Testament in the second half of the session.  See Contact Us for further information.

Junior Church — Comets Plus

For all youngsters in S1 to S4 +

This relatively new group like all other Junior Church Sections starts of at the morning service and then move on to the Masonic Halls with the Comets.  After the collection the Comets Plus enter into a discussion group with less structured lessons.  Our aim is to try and be more involved with the life of the Church.  Recently the youngsters have  observed The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper as well as seeing behind the scenes of these services.  The  Current project around the vacancy is to build up a dossier on the people involved in the life and work of our Church. See Contact Us for further information.

Both groups also present a Christmas Play on the Sunday before Christmas as well as supporting Christian Aid every year in a novel way.

The Junior Church sessions run from August to June when they finish with an annual trip and Prize Giving.  During the Summer months a Summer Sunday Club is organised and run in a more informal manner.
